First of all, I want to say that there are a lot of things that I don´t know about the music industry, but I´m going to give my opinion.

One the one hand, music will always be a profitable business. There are a lot of new groups that are becoming famous, maybe too famous. What I mean is that it isn´t very difficult to succeed, the key is being original, different to the rest - a current example is Lady Gaga, she has an unique style and because of this it has been easier for her to be well-known. Besides, it is necessary to look for the proper people to help you. Maybe you´re music is very good, but if you aren´t lucky you won´t become famous. The new way of listening to and sharing music is, obviously, the internet. There are a lot of webs for downloading, listening and buying music. Besides, there are new singers that have become famous thanks to YouTube.

One the other hand, I have to say that the industry won´t end, but the old ways of getting and selling music will change. CDs have been the way to get music for a long time, but they usually are too expensive and people prefers not to buy them unless it is absolutely necessary due to different reasons. One of the new methods of getting music is downloading - there are webs where you can listen to music too, but there are others where you have to pay to get a song. Another method to have benefits with music is merchandising. The fans of some groups would buy anything related to the group(t-shirts, plates,…).

My conclusion is that we aren´t often realistic when we speak about this subject - music will always be a way to express feelings and it won´t disappear. There will be changes, but the essence will be the same, so I think we don´t have to worry about this.
